Biking
Stowe offers up many ways to get on your bike, and get outside. The 5.5 mile-long bike path runs from the Village up to the mountain. You can make a day of it, or spend the week using it to get around Stowe. The paved recreation path is closed to motorized vehicles and offers a safe and healthy way to experience Stowe.
For the more adventurous, there is Smuggler's Notch and many mountain biking trails. Stowe, Morrisville and Waterbury have a extensive network of trails, providing a unique experience for the beginner and the expert.
Canoeing & Kayaking
The Stowe area is home to many of the most beautiful rivers, lakes and streams in New England. Spend a day on the Waterbury reservoir, which is less than a 10 minute drive from Stowe. Or take a relaxing canoe ride through the Green Mountains on the the Lamoille or Winooski Rivers.
You can rent a Kayak or Canoe at one of the many rental shops, or you can book a tour for a more guided experience. The Stowe area has many professionals that will help you plan the perfect water getaway.
Cross Country Skiing
During the winter months, Stowe has been called the Ski Capital of the east. Stowe has many Ski Resorts, but the often missed gem, is its network of Cross Country Ski Trails, cross country trails. A blanketing of snow turns the five and a half mile bike path into a winter getaway. And the vast trail networks around the Lamoille area offer up more ways to get an enjoy the countryside.
Dog Sledding & Dog Carting
Experience something different with a Dog Sled or Cart tour. Not only will you experience Vermont in a unique way, you will learn all about what goes into this fun and exciting sport. There are several Dog Sledding and Carting professionals in the Stowe area.
Fishing
Vermont's natural rivers and lakes provide the perfect backdrop for a day out on the water. You can book a guided river fishing trip, rent a boat for the day, or just get your feet wet with a fly fishing lesson. Trout, Bass, Perch and many other freshwater fish await the beginner and the expert, alike.
